Character Essay Contest Now Open!

In recognition and support of National CHARACTER COUNTS! Week October 15-21, 2017, Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority is sponsoring a Character Essay Contest. The contest is open to all women affiliated with a National Sorority and enrolled full-time at a College or University. The essay theme for 2017 is: Our world and communities are in need of character, compassion, and kindness now more than ever. How are you putting one of the pillars of character (trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, citizenship) into action within your community? How are you changing your corner of the world for the better? Please be specific in your narrative. Click here for a flyer with more information.

Three collegiate scholarships will be awarded during National CHARACTER COUNTS! Week to the 1st ($1,000), 2nd ($500) and 3rd ($250) place winners and two alumnae winners will be chosen and will receive $250. The winning essays will be announced and published on our website during National CHARACTER COUNTS! Week in October and will be published in the spring issue of The Triangle. In addition, the Panhellenic Community of the 1st place winner will receive a Women of Character Retreat facilitated by Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority staff and volunteers.

This contest arises from our commitment to developing strong womanly character through our character education initiative. It is our belief and mission that providing education and opportunities for discussing character and open dialogue that we will change the world. This contest helps us celebrate Women of Character.
