In recognition and support of National CHARACTER COUNTS! Week October 16-22, 2016, Tri Sigma will once again be sponsoring a Character Essay Contest. The contest is open to all women affiliated with a National Sorority and enrolled full-time at a College or University as well as alumnae of Tri Sigma. The essay theme for 2016 is: Compassion. What does it mean to be compassionate and how will compassion change our world?

Three collegiate scholarships will be awarded during National CHARACTER COUNTS! Week to the 1st ($1000), 2nd ($500) and 3rd ($250) place winners. In addition, the Panhellenic Community of the 1st place winner will receive a Women of Character Retreat facilitated by Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority staff and volunteers. Two alumnae winners will be chosen and will receive $250 sponsored by Nationwide Insurance.

This contest arises from our commitment to developing strong womanly character through our character education initiative and our growing partnership with the Josephson Institute of Ethics and their CHARACTER COUNTS! program. Celebrating Women of Character is something we are committed to and we look forward to recognizing and celebrating some stellar essays.  If you or someone you know is a woman of character please consider submitting an essay.
