Advancing Sorority Life

Sigma Sigma Sigma joined the National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) in 1951, becoming part of the premier advocacy and support organization for the advancement of the sorority experience. NPC, since its formation, has provided opportunities for lifelong friendship and support for both collegiate and alumna members. Through our membership in NPC, we advocate for the needs of our member groups, campuses, and communities.

NPC Advocacy Building Blocks

Government Relations

As the leading advocate for the sorority experience, NPC leads the sorority community’s engagement with local, state, and national lawmakers.  When setting legislative and policy priorities, NPC focuses on three central areas: Preservation of the sorority experience, promotion of college affordability, and advancement of student and campus safety.

Current legislative priorities include:

  • Pursuing federal legislation to protect students’ freedom of association rights
  • Advocating for the passage of federal legislation that would strengthen anti-hazing education, transparency about hazing incidents, and accountability for those who haze.
  • Advocating for the passage of state-level legislation that would strengthen anti-hazing efforts
