Local Grant Information

LOCAL GRANTS – Through its RPM Fund, the Foundation makes grants to agencies serving children in the communities where its chapters are located. In 2011 the Foundation funded over $11,000 in grants – a maximum of $2,500 each. Chapters must nominate an organization, using a special formPlay_therapy_local_grant.doc.

The Robbie Page Memorial Fund (RPM) began because Robbie, five-year old son of Tri Sigma’s National President, contracted polio in 1951 and died suddenly. His death at a time when there was no cure or prevention for polio prompted his family and friends to establish a fund in his memory for polio research.

In the early years, the fund supported various polio research projects, including the Salk vaccine trials. In 1954 Tri Sigma adopted the Robbie Page Memorial as its national philanthropy.

When the polio disease was virtually eradicated, Tri Sigma directed the fund to support play therapy/child life programs.

Today, grants made through the fund – operated through the Tri Sigma Foundation – total more than $2,000,000.

The Foundation seeks to make an impact on children in the local communities where it's chapters are located. We are delighted to announce the winners of the 2011 local grants.
